poe2 Repulsion Ward Cost Guide | U4GM

Post by Hartmann846 »

Repulsion in Path of Exile 2 isn't a clean "press button, monster dies" spell, and that's why people keep checking prices, gems, and PoE2 Currency before rebuilding around it. You cast it, wait a beat, then make the cursed target explode by hitting it.

How the gem really works
The first cast places a Verisium Rune curse in an area. It deals no direct damage, which catches a lot of players out. After about 1.5 seconds, cursed enemies can trigger Repulsion Wave when they're hit.

That wave is the nasty bit. It deals Physical Attack damage around the cursed target, but it doesn't use your weapon damage. So yeah, a fat weapon won't magically carry the gem by itself.

Core numbers worth remembering
Ward Cost: 15 at gem level 1 and 116 at gem level 20.
Curse Delay: 1.5 seconds before enemies become primed.
Repulsion Wave: 0.5 second cooldown with 5 stored uses.
Control Value: 20 Fragility plus 200 percent increased Knockback Distance.

Reality check: If you cast Repulsion and don't follow with hits, you've basically paid Ward to decorate the floor.

Why players are testing it now
The appeal is simple. Repulsion turns pack density into pressure, especially when your build can hit several cursed enemies fast. You get Physical bursts, knockback, and stun buildup all wrapped into one awkward but tempting Ward skill.

The buzz on Discord: players like the stun chain idea, but they're still arguing over Ward sustain and real boss damage.

Build traps to avoid
Red Flag: don't scale it like a normal weapon attack just because Repulsion Wave uses Attack wording.

Where it fits best
Repulsion feels best in builds that already want area hits, stun buildup, and crowd control. Supports like Magnified Area, Heightened Curse, Focused Curse, Stun, and Cursed Ground all make sense on paper, though Ward cost still matters. If you're planning a full swap, it's smart to buy cheap PoE2 Currency before testing expensive gear paths in live trade.
